The Golf Courses

Little Aston Golf Club
Little Aston is one of England’s most loved inland courses enjoying an enviable position in the Top 100 courses of Great Britain and Ireland. The course was designed in 1908 by 5-time Open Champion Harry Vardon and shortly afterwards was re-modelled by Harry Colt.

Little Aston is predominantly a parkland course set in the mature former estate of Little Aston Hall, situated on the outskirts of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield. The Club has over the years hosted many tournaments both Amateur and Professional; these include the English Amateur, Brabazon Trophy and British Boys Championships as well as the Dunlop Masters Professional Tournament; in recent times it has also held Open Qualifying and staged the Ladies Home Internationals in 2017.

Before your round one of the most unique putting greens in golf should be sampled on any visit and, after the round, golfers can relax over a drink or meal in a clubhouse that is steeped in history and tradition.

Sutton Coldfield Golf Club
Nestled in the heart of the country within the magnificent, 2,400 acre Sutton Park, a National Nature Reserve and one of the largest urban parks in Europe, this beautiful heathland course is just a few minutes drive from the bustle of Birmingham, UK’s largest city.

This fast draining, heathland course fully merits its place in the Top 100 Courses in England. Firm, tight fairways play into superbly conditioned greens offering an excellent challenge.

Walsall Golf Club
Formed in 1907, Walsall Golf Club is the hidden gem in the heart of the West Midlands located a short distance from the Midlands motorways link, the ideal venue to finish our Midland Salver.

The 18 hole course has an abundance of sand traps, with each and every green requiring a precise second shot. The layout is little changed from Dr MacKenzie’s original design but a careful programme of tree planting over the last fifty years means that every fairway is tree lined calling for greater accuracy from the tee than most courses.

Where to Stay?
We consider the city of Lichfield to be a great base to stay locally for the Midland Salver and offer our pairs a rich and varied history during their break, with Georgian museums including the Samuel Johnson Birthplace and Erasmus Darwin House, through to the stunning medieval Lichfield Cathedral.

Lichfield offers a variety of B&B’s, Budget Hotels up to luxury local hotels.
