Designed by Donald Steel & Co. the course opened in 2001 and in this short period has been host to many national events, including the 2006 Scottish Amateur Strokeplay Championship, 2007 British Seniors Open at Muirfield and now an Regional Open Qualifying venue.

With challenging greens, cavernous bunkers and spectacular views over the Firth of Forth, Gullane Hill and out towards Edinburgh and Fife, Craigielaw Golf Club is an experience not to be missed.

About This Course

Gullane No.2 was designed in 1898 by Willie Park Jnr who was Open Champion in 1885 and 1887 and a renowned golf architect, designing other high-profile courses such as Sunningdale Old and Olympia Fields.

Named because it was second course to be created at Gullane, No.2 is also a Championship Links course having hosted national amateur championships and The Open Final Qualifying.

From Babe Zacharias to Peter Thomson, many great champions have competed and won on No.2 and it is regarded by many members as their favourite course.

More mainstream in length and green size than No.1, Gullane No.2 is still a major challenge for golfers of all levels and abilities. Each nine can play easy or hard depending on the wind direction and the views are simply stunning.

Highlights

  • Charming traditional links golf
  • Stunning Aberlady Bay views
  • Fun and strategic shorter yardage layout
  • Warm and traditional Scottish club atmosphere

About This Course

Kilspindie Golf Club started out as Luffness Golf Club, founded in 1867, it was at the time the 35th registered golf club in the world. Some 27 years later the club was split by its members into Luffness New Golf Club, which was moved closer to the village of Gullane and Kilspindie Golf Club built on links land bordering Craigielaw Farm.

The resulting Willie Park Jnr. and Ben Sayers design is a delightful, classic links golf course that sits alongside Aberlady Bay, on the rugged coastline of the Firth of Forth.

Kilspindie Golf Club could be described as a hidden gem along the golfing paradise of the East Lothain Coastline.

What Past Attendees Say

★★★★★

Absolutely first class from start to finish. The courses were incredible, the hotel was spot on, and the format made it competitive but fun. Already booked for next year.

Played some courses I'd never have gotten on myself. The whole trip was organised perfectly — we just turned up and played. Can't recommend HIO enough.

Great value for what you get. Three top courses, two nights in a cracking hotel, and a chance to win a trip to TPC Sawgrass. What's not to like?
