An Open Championship links, fifty minutes from the Cairnryan ferry.
The Ailsa has hosted four Open Championships and is, by common consent, one of the finest stretches of golfing ground anywhere. Holes nine, ten and eleven run along the cliff beneath the lighthouse with nothing between the fairway and the Firth of Clyde but rock and spray.
For Irish pairs it is the nearest Open Championship links on the Scottish side of the water. Turnberry sits on the Ayrshire coast about fifty minutes up the road from Cairnryan, where the Belfast and Larne ferries land, and a little over an hour from Glasgow Airport.
The International Invitational is our first event built specifically for golfers travelling in. Two days of amateur pairs golf across both Turnberry links, with daily and overall prizes and a luxury goody bag. The entry covers everything: your golf on both courses, a one night stay at the resort with breakfast, and a PGA professional hosting throughout.

Getting to Turnberry from Ireland
Turnberry is one of the easiest Scottish venues to reach from Ireland. The Cairnryan ferry port is about fifty minutes down the coast road, and Glasgow Airport is a little over an hour away by car.

By ferry from Belfast or Larne. Stena Line sails Belfast to Cairnryan in about two and a quarter hours and P&O sails Larne to Cairnryan in about two. From Cairnryan it is roughly 35 miles up the A77 to Turnberry, about fifty minutes with the clubs in the boot.

By road from Dublin. Dublin to Belfast port is about two hours on the M1 and A1. Take the ferry, then the coast road: around five and a half hours door to door, with your own car for the whole trip.

By air. Dublin to Glasgow is about an hour in the air with Aer Lingus or Ryanair, and Belfast to Glasgow is shorter still. Glasgow Airport to Turnberry is about 55 miles down the M77 and A77, a little over an hour by hire car. Prestwick is closer to the course, so check its current schedules too.

Documents. Ireland and the UK share the Common Travel Area, so Irish citizens do not need a passport to enter Scotland and are exempt from the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation. Airlines and ferry operators do ask for photo ID, so bring a passport or passport card, as some carriers will not accept a driving licence. Citizens of other countries living in Ireland should check their own requirements.

Yes. The entry is €1,050 per person and we quote and confirm it in euro, so there is no exchange rate to work out. Room upgrades are listed in euro too.
Yes. The event runs on WHS handicaps, so your Golf Ireland handicap index is all you need. The maximum is 24 for men and 36 for ladies.
Most Irish pairs either drive and take the Belfast or Larne ferry to Cairnryan, about fifty minutes from Turnberry, or fly Dublin to Glasgow and hire a car for the last hour. From Dublin allow around five and a half hours by road and ferry, or about four hours door to door by air.
Irish citizens do not need a passport to enter Scotland and are exempt from the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation, but airlines and ferry operators ask for photo ID. Yes. Membership is open to residents of the UK and Ireland. A hole in one in any official club event at your own club, or at any HIO event, on a hole of 100 yards or more, earns a place at the National Playoff Final, and the winners there go on to the Grand Final at TPC Sawgrass. You need to be an HIO member at the moment it happens.
