Golf has been played at Leven since the 1820s, making it one of the oldest links in the world and a regular Open Final Qualifying venue. Rumpled fairways, deep bunkering and the celebrated Scoonie Burn finishing hole open the Salver in style.

About This Course
Established in 1817 by members of the St Andrews Society of Golfers (later The Royal and Ancient Golf Club), Scotscraig is a proper piece of Scottish golfing history. Designed by Old Tom Morris and James Braid, it holds a unique distinction: the oldest course in the world still owned and played by its founding club.
The credentials match the heritage. Six-time Open Championship Final Qualifying venue, qualifying site for the 2018 Senior Open Championship and host to the Scottish PGA Championship, Scotscraig has tested world-class professionals for decades.
What makes it stand out is the blend. You get plenty of links turf underfoot with firm running ground, but there are subtle heathland traits in the look and the way the holes ask you to think. It rewards placement and imagination more than brute force, especially when the breeze is doing what a Scottish breeze tends to do. Fast, true greens and strong turf quality ensure the round feels both historic and contemporary.
It is not long by modern standards, but when the wind gets up you will hit plenty of proper golf shots. Keep it in play, take your medicine when you are out of position and the course feels wonderfully fair. Club selection becomes as much about feel as it does yardage, and the greens demand careful reading and a deft touch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, all golfers will need to be a member. This can be purchased for just £10 for the year. This can be paid for pre-events or on the day of the event. The membership comes with great additional perks.
The event is open to all Men's, Women's and Mixed Pairs. You do not need to have scored a Hole in One to enter any of our events.
Max Handicap Men 24, Ladies 36 – 85% Allowance. You will need to have played 6 formal competitions in the 12 months preceding the event to be eligible for prizes.
The winning pair will qualify to play in the National Pairs Playoff Finals for an all expenses trip to the HIO-Club Grand Final at TPC Sawgrass. If the event has 6 or more Mixed/Women's Pairs we will offer a separate qualification section.
Yes, whenever possible we will send all scores back to your governing body via Golf Genius.
All players will receive a Digital Tournament Booklet approximately one month before the event date, detailing tee times, prizes and a full itinerary.
The playoff venue generally changes every year and is held in April/May the following season.
Our pairs champions will enjoy the trip of a lifetime the following year in September.
