Ian Appleton of Mellor & Townscliffe Golf Club made it 13 winners in 2017, which means it’s playoff time!
Ian, who signed up via The Golf Guide, made his ace during the Causeway Coast Golf Tournament. His hole in one means a playoff will be held to whittle down the field to the final lucky twelve who will be on their way to TPC Sawgrass.
Speaking after he scored his ace, Ian said: “I could only see the top of the flag from the tee as there is a dune in front of the green. I knew it would be close when I hit it as it was a sweet shot and dead at the flag.
“One of my playing partners said “I think that’s gone in”. He wasn’t sure as he thought it might have just run past the flag but when we started walking towards the green and could only see 2 balls he said it was in the hole. He was right!”
