Mike Clay made it 12 winners in 2017 after his ace at Peebles Golf Club.
Speaking after scoring his hole in one, Mike said: “I’ve played at Peebles Golf Club in the Scottish Borders for nearly 40 years and this is only the second time I have achieved a hole in one, both came at the same 7th hole.
“I can’t claim to have seen my ball go into the hole but I and my two playing partners did hear it. My wedge shot to the 135 yard, slightly elevated green landed just 6 feet from the flag according to the pitch mark, and then disappeared from view, but we heard it hit the stick, and to my delight, when we reached the green it was in!”
Mike’s hole in one means that if we have any more aces in September there will be a playoff to determine the lucky dozen who will be on their way to TPC Sawgrass.
